Thank you

Now is a good time to thank the people who have helped with setting up this new business. So, thank you to Barbara Leatham Photography ( for her enthusiasm and for taking such wonderful, evocative photographs. Thank you also to Tinker Jo, Wedding Planning Service (website coming soon, we'll put a link here when it's live), who styled our vintage and antique collection with such love and care for this photograph shoot; we had such a great day with these two ladies. Much gratitude too, to Heather Harman, from the fabulous shop Papyrus (, in Blandford, who kindly offered to design further settings for us to photograph. Thanks too to Elaine Kirsch of Fab Fairs ( Fab Fairs organises fabulous vintage fairs in Dorset and sells textiles, homeware and other items of interest on Etsy. Her advice has been invaluable.

What an exciting month November has been with the launch of our website and lots of interest in all the lovely things we have available to hire. I have always been interested in collecting antiques and vintage and used to make my living in buying and selling. In the 1980's or thereabouts I used to collect old lace and silk and I remember having a room stuffed full of it; it was my Aladdin's cave. I made wedding dresses out of this lace and silk for a David Fielden and Roger Gubbins who had stalls in Antiquarius in the King's Road. They were happy days.

Lace and silk wasn't the only thing I collected and over the few last decades I have amassed huge quantities of vintage and antique gorgeousness which I continue to add to. My son Anthony and his fiancee Bianca have asked to use much of it for their upcoming wedding. They have designed their wedding round my vintage and antique china and cutlery, as well as the French vintage champagne buckets and flower containers along with the beautiful, old folding chairs from Holland and the trestle tables from a village hall.

Anthony then suggested I start offering my collection to others for their weddings, parties and any other special occasions. Loves Lane Vintage Hire is born!
